Donation Center



Term: Summer/Fall 2021

Hours: 5-10 per week


Laura’s House is seeking a Resale Intern to work alongside our Donation Center team. This intern would ideally be able to commit to 5-10 hours a week, in person, at our Donation Center in Aliso Viejo. The ideal candidate should have experience in retail, ecommerce sales, and administrative work.


Work will include:

  • Retail
    • Photographing, posting, and managing items on our ecommerce accounts
    • Taking and logging inventory of donated items
    • Creating eye-catching displays for our Donation Center Pop-Up Shop
  • Administration
    • Scheduling donation pick-ups and deliveries
    • Organizing, shipping, and reordering items for retails stores


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Poshmark, eBay and other ecommerce platforms
  • Passion and understanding for secondhand and sustainable retail

Office Volunteer
• Provide general administrative support and coordination for all development and communications office activities including but not limited to: o Annual Giving Program o recognition and stewardship activities o prospect management o database management o special events o volunteer coordination Hours 8-10hrs a week M-F and/or some weekends depending on events.

Outreach Ambassador
Hours: 8-10 per week Duration: Fall and Spring internships can last for up to four months Qualifications: Undergraduate interns must be working on a degree from a community college or a four-year college/university. Graduate interns must be Master’s or PhD candidates. Interns should have the ability to: • Collaborate with staff across Laura’s House sites to carry out strategic community education and outreach plan to expand access to Laura’s House services on behalf of un-served or underserved client groups. • Execute the strategic outreach plan by completing telephone and in-person contacts with existing and potential community partners. • Represent Laura’s House at networking events, meetings, and outreach events. • Provide dating violence prevention workshops to youth and adults using the Healthy Emotions and Attitudes and Relationships Today (HEART) curriculum. • Manage scheduling and correspondence for outreach appointments. • Coordinate and administer 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate training for new volunteers and employees with community partners, guest speakers and Laura’s House staff. • Monitor Laura’s House Teen Web site; respond to emails as needed. • Compile statistical and descriptive information for contract and other reporting requirements as needed. • Enter and manage statistical data for H.E.A.R.T. program. • Provide administrative support to the Prevention Education Department. • Provide crisis intervention thorough needs assessment, comprehensive safety planning and referrals. • Other duties as assigned.

Laura’s House is looking for a social media intern to work together with our Fund Development department to help us expand our reach into the world of TikTok. We are looking for an intern who has experience in short form video content creation, and who is passionate about the mission of Laura’s House. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age (if under the age of 18, must have a signed parental consent) and be able to dedicate 5-10 hours a week to content creation and social media engagement.

The Laura's House Social Media Marketing Intern will assist the Fund Development and Community Engagement team in creating and executing social media content.


Daily Duties May Include:


Public Relations:

  • Creating and publishing social media content across all active platforms
  • Creating flyers and collateral for events and campaigns
  • Creating content and stories for newsletters
  • Presenting with FD team members to local organizations (virtually at the moment!)


Community outreach:

  • Working with active volunteers on projects and schedule donation drives
  • Contacting organizations through social media platforms
  • Help accept and sort through in-kind donations



  • Assist with the day-to-day events, data entry, and administrative tasks which support the domestic violence programs and services. 


Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding and experience in Hootsuite, Canva, Lightroom, TikTok, and Facebook/Instagram for Businesses
  • Experience in the non-profit sector
  • Passion for Laura's House mission

Laura's House Guild is a resource of dedicated individuals from the community committed to supporting the families and clients benefiting from the programs and services at Laura's House. Their purpose is: 1. To be ambassadors in the community, creating awareness of the vital role of Laura's House, thus promoting understanding, interest, and 2. To recruit volunteers into service and to directly support the families of Laura's House with special events, activities, and opportunities. 3. To support Laura's House financially with one signature event annually thus ensuring the programs and services of Laura's House continue to be available for those in need. Join us if you are intertested in giving back in a fun and social way, while meeting the direct needs of our clients and the population we serve.
